Michael L. Terbrueggen, CEO, O-T-S

 

 

Mike Terbrueggen was born in Detroit, Michigan. After high school graduation he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. He was in the 4th infantry with the 4th Combat Engineers. Mike has two daughters, one son, two grandsons and one granddaughter and lives in Longmont, Colorado where, in his spare time, Mike enjoys 4-wheeling, music and home improvement projects.

 

Mike's undergraduate degree is from Michigan and is in Electronics Engineering. His graduate degree is from University of Colorado and is in Power Engineering.

 

Mike formed Operations-Training-Solutions in 1994, is the CEO and Principal Engineer, and designs, develops, and delivers advanced training seminars, develops training programs and materials, and provides consulting services for power operations and engineering personnel. Sample clients and projects include:

 

Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) ~ Mike is the author of the EPRI sponsored "Dynamics of Interconnected Power Systems" tutorial. Mike conducts seminars throughout the world based on the contents of this tutorial.

 

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) ~ Mike was project manager for an electric operations training design and development program conducted by BPA. He has conducted many training seminars for BPA system operators.

 

Mid-West ISO ~ Mike assists MISO with the training of system operators and engineers and has conducted numerous training seminars on power system dynamics and written training materials and delivered training seminars on automatic generation control (AGC), voltage stability, and power system restoration. He has also developed and presented NERC Standards training programs for MISO system operators.

 

Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) ~ Mike has delivered training seminars to ERCOT member systems on many different occasions. The seminars have addressed voltage control/stability, frequency control, transmission operations, and NERC Standards. Mike is the principal author of a Fundamentals Training Manual for ERCOT system operators.

 

WECC ~ Mike conducts seminars titled "Power System Dynamics" and "Dynamics of Disturbances" for WECC system operators. The seminars are held several times a year in Salt Lake City, UT.

Utility Work Experience

 

Mike was employed as an electrical engineer by Colorado-Ute Electric Association (CUEA) for 10 years. He held the positions of planning engineer, protection engineer, staff engineer, and technical supervisor at a 500 MW thermal plant.

 

Mike combines 10 years of power industry engineering experience with 20 years of power operations training and consulting experience. He applies his power background and training capabilities to offer real world solutions to a company's training and operating needs.
